All activities, events and classes in park sites cancelled due to coronavirus
Organised activities in Leeds park sites have been cancelled due to the coronavirus and national guidance on social distancing
As part of steps to manage the impact of coronavirus, and taking into account national guidance relating to social distancing and social gatherings, Leeds City Council has taken the decision to cancel all events, activities and classes booked to be held in any park sites until at least the end of June.
This covers all events and activities, including fitness classes, forest schools and also farmers’ markets. We would ask anyone with any questions or issues regarding any activity, event, or class, to please contact the organiser.
Leeds City Council parks do remain open, but we ask that all visitors please strictly adhere to the guidance set out by government in terms of social distancing. Playgrounds in parks will continue to be closed and the gates locked with notices in place. This includes Multi Use Games Area (MUGAs), skateparks and outdoor gym equipment. For more information regarding social distancing, please see: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-on-social-distancing-and-for-vulnerable-people/guidance-on-social-distancing-for-everyone-in-the-uk-and-protecting-older-people-and-vulnerable-adults
Councillor Mohammed Rafique, Leeds City Council’s executive member for environment and active lifestyles, said:
“In what are very challenging times, we are continuing to monitor all of the guidance regarding coronavirus very closely.
“We have therefore taken the decision to cancel all planned activities, events and classes set to be held in park sites until at least the end of June. I understand that this will cause disappointment for some people, but we must take every step we can to protect the health and wellbeing of the public and our council staff.
“We will provide a further update regarding activities, events and classes set to be held in park sites from July onwards closer to the time.”
