Brownlee Brothers crowned Sporting Pride of Leeds Winner

Jonny Brownlee MBE, and brother Alistair Brownlee MBE were awarded the Sporting Pride of Leeds Award at the 20th Anniversary Leeds Sports Awards, held at New Dock Hall, with 450 people in attendance.

The other big award winners, for Outstanding Service to Sport, were Maggie Birkinshaw from Leeds Athletic Netball Club and John Baron, athletics coach at Leeds Beckett University. Leeds Rhinos were very well represented with the Under 18's Academy the Performance Team/Club winners, with James Simpson and Nathan Collins the Disability Sportsman
winners.

The Leeds Rhinos Foundation were also one of two winners of the new Inclusivity Champion Award, along with Michael Melia.

The awards celebrate the sporting and wellbeing achievements of athletes, coaches, administrators and volunteers from across the city during 2022, with 17 awards presented, hosted by Tanya Arnold and Jamie Jones Buchanan. The awards are organised by Sport Leeds with the support of event partners Leeds City Council and Leeds Beckett University, with sponsors Leeds Trinity University, Leeds Sixth Form College and Blacks Solicitors.
