City centre road resurfacing work starting next week
A programme of road resurfacing in Leeds city centre begins next week.
Starting on Monday 23 May, the programme will run until Wednesday 8 June with work taking place overnight from 9pm to 5:30am from Mondays to Thursdays to improve the road surfaces.
The works will be carried out on Calverley Street, Portland Street, East Parade and Oxford Place/Great George Street. Improvements will also be carried out on the inbound lane of Park Lane each night from 9pm to 5:30am from Friday 27 May to Friday 3 June.
Road closures will be in place for the work to be carried out, with diversion routes signposted. The improvements have been approved by Metro and information on alternative bus routes will be provided at affected stops.
While planned into Leeds City Council’s long-term road surfacing improvements programme, the resurfacing on East Parade, Great George Street and Calverley Street forms part of the route of next month’s Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds. These works, along with other improvements happening on roads on the route, will help ensure the surface conditions are safe for those taking part.
