Final call for applications to the Winter Wellbeing Community Grants Scheme
Time is running out for local community groups to apply for small grants from the Winter Wellbeing Community Grants Scheme. Established by Leeds City Council in partnership with Leeds Community Foundation, the scheme supports projects helping vulnerable people who may be at risk this winter.
With fears that more people in Leeds are becoming exposed to adverse conditions as austerity impacts on families, individuals and organisations, local groups are being asked to come up with innovative ideas to help vulnerable people prepare for cold weather. There are opportunities to apply for local small grants of up to £2,500, with larger grants of up to £5,000 available for groups which deliver citywide services.
Cllr Lisa Mulherin, Leeds City Council executive board member for Health, Wellbeing and Adults, said:
“I’m really looking forward to hearing about innovative ideas that identify and support people needing help to prepare for cold weather. The city is already making great efforts to work together to help people keep well in the winter and we are really keen to hear ideas for projects to address social isolation, increase resilience and help to reduce levels of ill health due to vulnerable people living in cold housing.”
Sally-Anne Greenfield, Chief Executive of Leeds Community Foundation, said:
“Applicants need to clearly show how they are addressing a specific need in their community and that there is demand for their services. We hope to fund practical projects that provide real, tangible help and look forward to receiving a range of applications.”
Deadline for application is 5pm on Friday 30th October. Guidance notes and application forms are available to download from: www.leedscf.org.uk/winter-wellbeing-community-grants-scheme/
Successful applicants will be notified in December 2015.
