Final Rodley roundabout improvement works to be carried out
Rodley roundabout will be partially closed over the next three weekends as the final phase of improvement works are carried out.
Starting on Friday 31 July (tonight), road closures and diversions will be in place from 9pm to 9am each Friday and Saturday night to allow for the last elements of the project which has seen the roundabout remodelled to improve traffic flow.
The project, which began last September and has been carried out concurrently with similar work at Horsforth roundabout, will see new traffic signals and through lanes created as well as a new road surface and safe crossing facilities being installed for cyclists and pedestrians.
In order for the final elements and new road surfacing to be installed safely, the works are to be carried out at night to limit the impact on traffic, with road closures in place on the A657 Rodley Lane on an alternate basis either side of the roundabout junction with the A6120 Outer Ring Road.
As a result the A657 Rodley Lane will be closed northbound overnight on Friday 31 July, Saturday 1 August and Friday 14 August, and will then be closed southbound overnight on Friday 7 August, Saturday 8 August and Saturday 15 August. Signed diversions will be in place during all closures.
All efforts will be made to minimise noise disruption while the work is carried out with the noisiest elements being completed as early in the evening as possible.
The £1.1million improvement project is being funded by Leeds City Council with support from the Department for Transport’s Local Pinch Point bidding process.
