Leeds Inner Ring Road to be closed this weekend for tunnel works

The Leeds Inner Ring Road will be partially closed this weekend as work continues to strengthen Woodhouse Tunnel.

As part of the ongoing essential maintenance work being carried out on the Inner Ring Road A58(M), the tunnel will be closed in both directions overnight from 7pm until 6am on Friday 19 June, Saturday 20 June and Sunday 21 June.

During the daytime on Saturday and Sunday from 6am to 7pm each day the eastbound tunnel will be closed but the westbound tunnel will be open with a contraflow in operation to allow for two-way traffic.

Traffic will be diverted during the full closure periods, with signs in place redirecting road users while further details can also be seen at www.leeds.gov.uk/woodhousetunnel

From Monday 22 June, the narrow lanes and speed restrictions which have been in place on the westbound side of the tunnel will be removed until autumn 2015. Those measures will remain in place on the eastbound side until further notice.

Woodhouse Tunnel will continue to be closed overnight in both directions every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7pm until 6am the next morning.

In addition, further weekend closures are planned over the summer on the following dates, scheduled to avoid major city centre events where possible:

• 3/4/5 July
• 17/18/19 July
• 14/15/16 August
• 4/5/6 September
