Leeds students celebrate A-level and post-16 results

Education Schools

Thousands of students across Leeds are celebrating today as they collect their A-level and other post-16 results.

The long-awaited day is the culmination of years of hard work and determination and marks the beginning of new chapter for many of the city’s students.

Councillor Helen Hayden, Leeds City Council’s executive member for children and families, said: “Huge congratulations to everyone picking up their A-level or other post-16 results today. I know today is mix of nerves and excitement and you should all feel proud of the efforts and dedication which have led you here.

“Thank you also to all staff across our city’s schools, settings and colleges for their hard work and high-quality teaching which has supported pupils as they prepared for their assessments this year.

“As corporate parents, we are also keen to say how proud we are of our children looked after and care leavers who are also receiving their results today and want to thank those adults – including personal advisors – who have played a key role in supporting our children too.

“There is a range of guidance and support for young people, including those that are worried they didn’t get the results they needed, to help them on their next steps – whether that’s continuing in higher education, starting an apprenticeship or entering the world of work. We wish all students the very best of luck for the future.”

Information on Next Steps

There is support available for students who did not get the results they were hoping for and those who need help figuring out what’s next.

Students can use Leeds City Council’s Start in Leeds website to access information, advice and guidance about the further education opportunities available.

The Next Steps page also signposts learners to council-offered employment support which provides one-to-one support with CVs, job searching, application forms, interviews and general careers advice and guidance.
