Lotherton Hall turns back time for vintage summer fair
Visitors to Lotherton Hall can go back in time and experience all the fun of the 50s and 60s this summer.
The estate’s vintage fair takes place on August 20 and 21 and will include live music, dancing, classic cars and outdoor games.
Judges will be on the lookout for those in fancy dress, with the spot prizes being given to the best 50s and 60s outfits on the day and the chance for one person to win free entry if they arrive in a pre-1960s vehicle.
And for the second year in a row, Rose and Brown Vintage will be on site with 25 stalls selling vintage fashion, homewares, small furniture and collectables from the 1920's to the 1980's.
Councillor Brian Selby, Leeds City Council’s lead member for museums and galleries, said:
“Lotherton is a place immersed in local history that has played such a key role in our city’s heritage over the years, so it’s the perfect place to wind back the clock and experience a taste of what life was like in times gone by.
“Summer is always a special time at Lotherton, with a fantastic programme of activities and I’m sure this vintage fair will be one of this year’s highlights.”
Lotherton Hall has been home to some of the city’s most prominent families over the centuries, including the Nevilles, de Hothams and the Gascoignes.
The hall is also currently hosting the Our Cousin Florence exhibition in the Fashion Galleries, which looks at the life of a young Florence Nightingale and her connections with Lotherton.
Lotherton Hall offers an annual membership that gives visitors unlimited entry to the whole estate, including the bird garden, the house and grounds.
Membership is available for couples, families and adults and includes discounted entry to paid for events.
