Statement on the passing of Heather Nelson

Leeds City Council is saddened to learn of the death of Heather Nelson, chief executive of the Black Health Initiative in Leeds.

A joint statement by the Lord Mayor of Leeds Councillor Al Garthwaite, the Leader of Leeds City Council Councillor James Lewis and the chief executive of Leeds City Council Tom Riordan said:

“We have been shocked to hear this incredibly sad news. Heather was a wonderful person who worked tirelessly to make a positive difference to people’s lives, her community and the wider city. We send our deepest condolences to her family and community, and at the appropriate time we will work with Heather’s family to celebrate her remarkable life.”
