Winter Warmth Packages given to people across Leeds living in temporary accommodation

Over 100 Winter Warmth Packages have been provided to vulnerable people living in temporary accommodation across Leeds in the run-up to Christmas.

As part of a joint initiative undertaken by Leeds City Council and Liberty Gas, the packages include a pair of gloves and food including a box of cuppa soups, bag of porridge oats, pack of chocolate biscuits and a tin each of soup, corned beef, sardines, mackerel and fruit.

One charity to benefit included homeless charity St George’s Crypt, who will now be distributing over 20 packages to people regularly staying in temporary accommodation at their base located on Great George Street in the city centre.

This project forms part of a range of work by the council as part of its Winter Warmth Campaign to help and support the most vulnerable during the winter months, which includes advice on how best to keep warm whilst also reducing energy bills. “We know that the winter months can be very difficult for people living in communities across Leeds, which is why as part of our Winter Warmth Campaign, a range of work is undertaken by the council and partners such as Liberty Gas to provide practical support to the most vulnerable.

“Over 100 Winter Warmth Packages have now been delivered before the Christmas period to people living in temporary accommodation across Leeds and to groups including homeless charity St George’s Crypt and I would personally like to thank Liberty Gas for their help in this very important initiative.”
