Library and digital assistant Anna Jones with a 19th Century edition of A Christmas Carol. Dickens’ first run of 6,000 copies of A Christmas Carol sold out by Christmas Eve of 1843, with publishers returning to the press another eight times within the first six months of publication to meet demand.
