Leeds City Council is working with some of the country’s biggest firms to address barriers that prevent households from accessing energy-saving green home upgrades.

A pioneering space technology has been deployed for the first time in the UK over Leeds, helping inform the city’s plans to make homes healthier, greener, and cheaper to live in.

Hundreds more households will enjoy cheaper energy bills thanks to green upgrades after Leeds City Council secured £16.8 million to progress its plans to deliver climate-friendly housing across the city.

Drivers of plug-in vehicles will soon find topping up their mileage even more convenient, thanks to 84 new plug-in vehicle fast charging bays being installed in Leeds.  

Leeds City Council can today provide an update on its multi-million-pound work to reduce local flooding risk – and has reminded residents of the steps they can take to protect themselves and their homes during the wettest months of the year.

More than 900 low-income households in Leeds are benefiting from cheaper energy bills and comfier homes this winter, thanks to around £9.5 million of green upgrades installed free-of-charge through a Leeds City Council scheme.

The Local Plan Update consultation is coming to an end next Monday (19 December 2022) and Leeds City Council is encouraging residents and business to have their say.
