At a formal opening ceremony yesterday (Monday 16 May) Councillor James Lewis, Leader of Leeds City Council, opened Newmarket House the new home for the city’s refuse and street cleansing services.

A major programme to install £25.3m of green upgrades across 40 public buildings has hit a significant milestone with Leeds City Council confirming that installation work has now completed at more than half of the sites.

James Lewis planted a young Acer Palmatum (Atropurpureum) tree at Golden Acre Park to mark Her Majesty the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
