Leeds Street Feast serves up world flavours and live music this weekend

A brand-new food festival will arrive on Millennium Square this weekend bringing foods from around the world to the heart of the city centre.

This Friday to Sunday (July 24-26) Leeds Street Feast will see street food vendors, local independent traders, live music and DJs on the square for a three-day celebration of food and culture.

Football’s coming home to Millennium Square as city hosts World Cup 2026 semi-final fanzone

Fans will have the chance to cheer on England’s heroes on Millennium Square as they hunt for glory in this week’s World Cup semi-final.

Following the Three Lions’ victory against Norway on Saturday evening, Leeds City Council have announced that Millennium Square will host a World Cup 2026 fanzone at the heart of Leeds city centre for the epic last four clash with Argentina on Wednesday, July 15.

Archives to shed new light on historic charter’s Canterbury tale

One of the most important documents in the history of Leeds was rescued from being turned into a makeshift lampshade, the city’s archivists have revealed.

The one-of-a-kind copy of the Leeds Royal Charter, written centuries ago, was about to be repurposed as an unusual decorative feature by the unwitting owner of a Canterbury book shop in the 1950s.

Fortunately, a chance consultation with a friendly expert disclosed that the delicately inscribed text was the sole remaining copy of the Royal Charter first granted to Leeds by King Charles I in 1626.
