Leeds City Council has today issued an update on the current known impacts of Storm Babet, which brought high winds and heavy rain between October 19-21 2023.  

A book of historic lighthouse designs from the brilliant mind of Leeds-born engineering genius John Smeaton has gone on display in Leeds.

The beautiful first edition, penned by Smeaton himself, is among the fascinating objects featured in a new exhibition which has opened at Leeds Industrial Museum.

Tourism chiefs from across West Yorkshire came together this week for the inaugural meeting of a new partnership aimed at unleashing the vast potential of the region’s visitor economy.

An event marking a special birthday of a pioneering asset-based community development programme in Leeds has been held this week.

Over 150 attendees, including members of third sector organisations, interested representatives of other local authorities and city councillors came together at Slung Low in Holbeck to celebrate the 10^th birthday of the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) programme.  

Leeds City Council has successfully secured funding of £24,994.50, from The Chewing Task Force to introduce new measures to tackle chewing gum, that blights the city centre.

The popular Ice Cube at Christmas will once again be bringing some winter magic to Millennium Square, Victoria Gardens and Cookridge Street this festive season.

Taking place from November 24, the annual event promises a joyful experience for all ages, featuring an array of exciting activities and attractions including the much-loved outdoor ice rink, a range of Christmas market stalls and other winter themed attractions.

This recycle week, Leeds City Council and Recycle Now are launching a fun mission for primary school children with the arrival of the big recycling hunt.

It’s a model example of engineering excellence which Leeds once put on show in a bid to impress some of the world’s brightest minds.

Now a remarkably detailed recreation of the city’s historic Crown Point Bridge is among the fantastic feats set to be celebrated in a carefully constructed new exhibition at Leeds Industrial Museum.

Five schemes in Leeds were successfully chosen from the Government’s £200million Active Travel Fund Tranche 4 pot and will be consulted on in due course.
